Results Center Expansion Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

November 23, 2009

I am pleased to return to Stuart today to mark a major step forward in our ongoing efforts to create jobs for Patrick County residents. Today we are cutting the ribbon on the new 6,000 square foot expansion of the Results Center in Stuart. This expansion enables the hiring of an additional 135 new employees at the center, and it makes Results the largest private sector employer in Patrick County with more than 300 employees.

Results came to Stuart as part of my Showcasing Southwest Virginia program. From the moment in August, 2006, when we first announced that The Results Companies, a Dania Beach, Florida corporation which also has an operation in Galax, Virginia, had decided to open a facility in Stuart, the company has exceeded expectations.

At that time we announced plans to create 65 new jobs in the Rich Creek Corporate Park offering a unique employment and professional development opportunity for the citizens of the area, and work began to upfit 10,000 square feet of the vacant 20,000 square foot Rick Creek Shell Building.

The quality of the workforce proved to be so impressive, and Patrick County proved to be such an excellent environment for The Results Company, that in the Fall of 2006 the Company announced plans to hire a total of 175 rather than the 65 originally announced. One year later, in September of 2007, we announced another promising development. Results would hire 40 additional positions serving a new client and would expand its operations by 4,000 square feet of space to occupy 14,000 square feet of the building.

Today we are cutting the ribbon on the remaining 6,000 square feet of this facility.  The Results Company now occupies the entire 20,000 square feet of the former Rich Creek Shell Building and expects to employ more than 300 individuals at this site, making it the largest private sector employer in the County.

Results Stuart currently hosts work for two clients, LG and a major health care company, and this expansion serves the health care client. The individuals working at the center answer questions from customers who call in asking for information related to enrollment in health care plans, prescription drug coverage, copayments or other health care coverage matters.

These are excellent jobs with wages exceeding the average for this industry, health insurance after 90 days of employment, and paid vacation.

Results represents an excellent employment opportunity for the region.  I urge any job seeker interested in employment at the center to contact the Virginia Employment Commission in Martinsville at 276-632-3023.

The remarkable success of Results Stuart demonstrates the effectiveness not only of my Showcasing Southwest Virginia Program, which introduced Results to Patrick County in 2006, but also of the leadership of the Patrick County Board of Supervisors and the Patrick County Economic Development Authority.

The vision of the EDA in constructing the Rich Creek shell building several years ago and the outstanding competence of the EDA and its staff in assisting Results as it has expanded its presence in Patrick County have been two key elements of this success.  I congratulate them on their continued vision and commitment to creating jobs in Patrick County, and I appreciate their strong partnership with my office.

Jay Scudder, Patrick County Administrator, and Tom Rose, Assistant County Administrator, have been truly indispensable in dealing with the many issues surrounding buildout of the shell building.  I want to express my deep appreciation to them for their untiring effort and hard work.

The Virginia Tobacco Commission has once again assisted Patrick County with financing to support the build out of the facility, and we are grateful for the support that has been provided.  Senator Roscoe Reynolds will be representing the Commission today on the program.

Without question the region’s workforce has been the primary key to the outstanding success experienced by Results in Stuart. The excellent work ethic and ability of those employed at the center have led to the amazing growth from 65 employees in 2006 to over 300.

Finally, I want to thank The Results Companies. We appreciate your bringing these jobs to Patrick County, we value your commitment to our region, and we pledge our full and ongoing support to assuring your success.

I will now turn the podium over to State Senator Roscoe Reynolds for his remarks.  He will be followed, in turn, by Crystal Harris, Chairman of the Patrick County Board of Supervisors and Karl Weiss with the Patrick County EDA.  Our program will conclude with remarks from Raketa King with The Results Companies.
